The Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL) provides value to its members.
AOPL member companies:
- improve pipeline safety performance through participation in industry-wide discussions on best practices and lessons learned;
- address legislative, regulatory and legal opportunities and challenges through leveraged advocacy, regular updates, and the chance to shape industry positions being advocated; and
- benefit from continuing education and training for employees, as well as opportunities to discuss industry topics with policymakers and industry peers.
AOPL promotes the safe, reliable, and efficient transportation of energy liquids by pipelines, educates the public about the vital role oil pipelines serve in the daily lives of Americans, and advocates for the interests of its members. AOPL members carry more than 90 percent of the crude oil, refined petroleum products, and natural gas liquids moved by pipelines in the United States. A list of its members is available here.
AOPL is a national trade association that is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(6) of the Internal Revenue Code. AOPL activities are supported by dues from its members. AOPL is incorporated in the District of Columbia, where it is headquartered. AOPL conducts all activities in compliance with antitrust laws.
A company owning an interest in or operating a pipeline transporting petroleum, petroleum products, or other liquids is eligible for membership in AOPL.
