Emergency Response

Pipeline operators work together with first responders to protect communities

  • Pipeline operators, together with partnering first responder organizations, have created a free online training program to assist first responders to learn the techniques and skills to address a hazardous liquid or natural gas pipeline incident.
  • The “Shoulder to Shoulder: Roles in Pipeline Emergency Response” video series features interviews with pipeline and emergency response experts. The series is an engaging way for emergency responders to learn more about how to safely and effectively respond to a pipeline emergency.
  • There are 5 priorities for first responders managing a pipeline incident. Safety first - of first responders and the community - is the top priority. Isolating the area, sizing up the incident, identifying the pipeline operator and product, contacting the operator and preparing an initial incident action plan are additional priorities.
